Businesses, community spaces and community life — how a Place works on Localsville.
A Place is somewhere in your community rather than someone — a business, a community space, or something happening in community life.
A Place profile carries a name, a description, photos including a cover banner, its kind, its community, optionally a street address and opening information, and the items it offers.
Places appear under three lenses: Businesses, Community Spaces and Community Life.
They are the three ways a Place can be found. Businesses is for places that trade. Community Spaces is for gardens, rooms, libraries and the places a neighbourhood shares. Community Life is for what is happening — the groups, efforts and gatherings that are not a shop.
A Place picks at least one, and can be in more than one.
There are nineteen kinds to choose from, covering bakeries, cafés, salons, shops, studios, farms, galleries, markets, community spaces, gardens, libraries, collectives, clubs, organisations, florists, workshops, clinics, home-based places, and "other".
A Place must pick exactly one kind. A Person profile never has one.
The kind is one of the things reviewed when you change it on a live profile.
Any signed-in neighbour can create a Place profile — you do not need a special account type — and one account can hold up to ten.
Every Place goes through review before it appears publicly, and you should only create a Place you are actually entitled to represent. Creating a profile for a business you have nothing to do with is a violation of the Community Guidelines.
If a Place profile about you exists and should not, use a removal request.
No. Creating and running a Place profile is free. There is no listing fee, no monthly charge and no paid tier.
The account that created it. A Place profile belongs to one Localsville account, and that account manages it.
There is no way to transfer a Place to a different account inside the app today, and no multi-user management. If you need ownership changed, contact support.
No. An address is optional, and even when you add one it stays private unless you choose to publish it. Two separate things have to be true before neighbours see a street address: the address has to be confirmed, and you have to turn on the public-address setting.
A Place only appears on the map when both of those are true.
A Person profile cannot have a street address at all.
Changing the address clears its confirmation and switches off visits, pickup and delivery until the new address is confirmed. That is deliberate — a stale confirmed address is worse than none.
Address changes apply immediately rather than waiting for review, but the confirmation has to be redone.
A Place with a street address has to be listed in the community that matches that address.
A Place can list items. Services and experiences belong to a Person profile — the person who provides them.
That is a deliberate split: a service is something a human does, and Localsville wants a face attached to it.
A Place can have up to fifty active offerings.
Yes. A Place can publish when it is open, and neighbours see it on the public profile.
It is set as weekly availability in your own time zone, and you can change it at any time without review.
Yes. Messaging works the same for a Place as for a Person — a signed-in neighbour can start a conversation from the profile.
Messages arrive as notifications, and you reply from the account that manages the Place.
Yes, with the Place's agreement. A Place can invite a Person, and once the association is approved the Person's profile can carry an "at [Place]" line.
It is never guessed. The link only appears when both sides have agreed and the Place is live and complete.
A person reviews every Place profile before it appears, but Localsville does not check business registries or licences. Review is a judgement about whether the profile is honest and appropriate, not a legal verification.
Address confirmation is a separate step and only affects whether a street address and map pin can be published.
There is no paid or unpaid "verified" badge on Localsville.
