Messaging is free, with no limits to pay to lift.
If you are contacting someone about something specific they offer, start from that offering — it carries the context with it.

Any signed-in neighbour who can see your profile. Guests cannot message anyone.
If you would rather someone did not, you can block them, and you can report anything that is not right.
Deactivating your profile takes you out of view entirely.

Open the offering and use its button — it starts a conversation that already knows what you are asking about.
While in-app payment is switched off, every offering behaves this way: you request, and the two of you agree the details in the conversation.
The provider can send you a quote with a specific price.

You get a notification saying "New message", with the sender's name where it is safe to show it.
The message itself is never in the notification — you open the app to read it.
You can turn message notifications off, or set quiet hours.

No. Messages cannot be unsent or edited.
If a conversation has gone wrong, you can block the other person, and you can report anything that breaks the Community Guidelines .

Not as a matter of course. Conversations are not browsed by staff and there is no monitoring of ordinary messages.
If you report a message, that message is shown to a moderator so they can act on it — that is the point of reporting.
Messages are not end-to-end encrypted, and Localsville does not claim they are. The Privacy Policy is the authoritative statement.
