Localsville Terms of Use
1. Accepting these terms
By using Localsville you agree to these terms, to the Privacy Policy and to the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Before you publish anything or message anyone, the app asks you to accept the current version of these terms and the Community Guidelines, and records that you did. If we change them materially, you will be asked to accept the new version before continuing to post or message.
2. What Localsville is
Localsville helps you find the people and places in your town, and arrange things with them.
Our role, plainly. Localsville operates the marketplace: we run the app, moderate what is published on it, collect payment through Stripe when you pay for something, hold and settle payouts to the people who get paid, and handle refunds under the Refunds, Payments & Cancellations policy. The underlying agreement for the goods or services themselves — the haircut, the jar of honey, the delivery — is between you and the other person. We do not perform the service or sell the provider's goods.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract. One account per person. Do not use Localsville if we have previously suspended you.
4. Your account
You sign in with your phone number, verified by SMS. Keep access to that number secure — anyone who controls it can reach your account. We do not offer social or email sign-in.
You are responsible for what your account does.
5. What you post
Everything on your profile — your name, story, photos, offerings, prices, availability, addresses — must be accurate and yours to publish. Do not misrepresent who you are, what you offer, whether you are licensed or insured, or what something costs.
You keep ownership of what you post. You give Localsville LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to your content for the purpose of operating the service only: to host and store it, technically reproduce, resize and process it, display and distribute it within Localsville, moderate and review it, and operate the features you ask for. That licence ends a reasonable time after you delete the content or your account, except for records we are required or permitted to retain (see the Privacy Policy and Account Deletion & Data Retention).
Using your content in marketing or advertising outside the service is not covered by this licence. If we ever want to feature your content that way, we will ask you separately first.
Public content — your profile and your offerings — is reviewed by a person on our team before it first publishes and when you edit it. While an edit is reviewed, the previously approved version stays live; if a submission is rejected, we tell you why and the prior approved version remains.
You must not post anything illegal, harmful, hateful, deceptive, or sexually exploitative. The Community Guidelines are part of these terms, and set out the rules and what happens when they are broken.
6. Real people, real world — what we do not promise
This is the part to read twice.
Everyone offering anything on Localsville — every neighbour, business and courier — is an independent local person or business using Localsville to offer and fulfil things. They set their own prices, choose their own work, and we do not supervise how they do it.
We do not guarantee, and are not responsible for:
- that anyone is who they say they are, or that we have verified them;
- the quality, safety, legality or suitability of anything offered;
- that anyone holds the licences, permits, qualifications or insurance their work may require;
- that anyone will show up, be on time, finish, or behave well;
- any outcome, result, income or earnings;
- what happens when you meet someone in person.
Meeting strangers carries risk. Use your judgement, meet in public where sensible, and stop if something feels wrong. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services — not us.
We may show verification badges or status labels where we have them. A badge is a signal, not a warranty.
7. Money
Payments are for real-world local goods and services — not digital content or in-app items.
Stripe processes payments and payouts; card details never reach our servers. Refunds, cancellations and payouts follow the Refunds, Payments & Cancellations policy. People who get paid through Localsville are also subject to the additional terms for their role: the Community Courier Terms for couriers, and the Local Partner Terms for Local Partners.
Some refunds are owed without anyone approving them. If you cancel something before the work has begun — or the other person cancels before finishing — you get the whole amount back under the Refunds, Payments & Cancellations policy, with no cancellation fee. Other cases are reviewed by us, and approving one of those is our decision to return money.
Either way, approval is not arrival: we do not promise when a bank or card network will complete a transfer.
8. Moderation and enforcement
Public content is reviewed by a person before it publishes (section 5). We may also decline a submission, remove content, restrict features, pause, suspend or close an account, with or without notice, where we believe it is necessary — including for breaking these terms or the Community Guidelines, for safety, for fraud, or where the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you why and how to reach us about it.
You can report a profile, a message or a commitment from inside the app, including with the reason "Involves a minor or serious harm", which goes to the top of our review queue. Reports are private and are never shown to the person reported.
You can also block anyone. Blocking stops messages and visibility in both directions, without notifying the other person, and you manage it in Settings → Blocked people.
9. Ending it
You can stop using Localsville at any time, and delete your account from Settings. Deletion deactivates the account immediately and anonymises it after 30 days, with some records retained — see Account Deletion & Data Retention.
We may end or suspend your access under section 8.
10. Disclaimers
Localsville is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content is accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Localsville LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Localsville or from any interaction with another user.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will tell you in the app and update the effective date. Continuing to use Localsville after that means you accept the new terms.
