Why things are reviewed before they go public, and what happens after a decision.
Because a person reads every profile before it appears publicly. Nobody publishes themselves onto Localsville, and there is no automatic approval.
It is a small check for honesty and appropriateness — not an assessment of you, your business or your work.
While it is in review your profile is private. Nothing you wrote is visible to neighbours yet.
Localsville does not publish a review time, because we are not yet in a position to promise one and would rather not invent it.
Review is done by a person, not a machine. Localsville is small, and at this stage that means it happens when a human gets to it.
If something has been waiting longer than seems reasonable, contact support and ask — that is a legitimate thing to do, not a nuisance.
Because it is a new photo on a profile that is already public. A photo added to a live profile is checked before neighbours see it, and your current photos keep showing meanwhile.
On a draft profile — one that has never gone live — photos appear straight away, because the whole profile is reviewed together before it is published.
A photo that is still in review cannot be made your main photo yet.
The photo is not published, and you are told why. You get a notification headed "A photo needs an update" carrying the reviewer's own words, and the same message is waiting for you where the photo is.
Your existing photos are untouched — a rejection never takes down a photo that was already approved.
Add a different photo whenever you like. There is no penalty and no limit on trying again.
Where the thing itself is — in your photo area for a photo, and with the edit or offering for those. You will see a notice reading "Please choose another photo." with the reviewer's message underneath, and the photo itself carries a "Needs a new photo" label.
The same message is in the notification you receive, so you do not have to go looking.
If a reviewer left no message you will still see something honest rather than silence: "This photo was not approved."
Yes, straight away, and as many times as you need. A new photo simply goes into review like the first one did.
There is no penalty for a rejected photo and nothing is held against your profile.
It goes back to being a private draft so you can change it and submit again. Nothing is deleted and nothing is public.
Be aware of a real gap: when a first profile submission is sent back, Localsville does not currently notify you or show you the reviewer's reason inside the app. If your profile has returned to draft and you do not know why, ask support — they can tell you.
Rejected edits to a profile that is already live do carry a reason and a notification.
Yes, at any time — and most changes take effect immediately.
Only five things are checked before they appear: your display name, your tagline, your story, your neighbourhood, and a Place's kind. While one of those is being reviewed, your profile keeps showing the version neighbours already know.
Everything else applies at once: your community, how you like to connect, your availability, your prices, and a Place's address.
No — only changes to the public words. Your name, tagline, story, neighbourhood and a Place's kind are reviewed; an offering is only re-reviewed if its title or description changed.
Fixing a price, changing your availability, switching pickup on, updating an address or changing community all happen immediately with nobody in the loop.
Saving a new version of a pending change replaces the old one, so a reviewer never approves text you have already moved on from.
Check that it is still complete and that you are looking at the right community. A profile appears only while it is live, complete, and in the community it belongs to.
If you removed something the profile needed — a tagline, a lens, a way to connect — it can drop out until that is filled in again.
Also check that you have not deactivated it, and that you are browsing your own community rather than another one.
A person on the Localsville team. Approval is a human decision, not an automated filter, and only a moderator can make it.
Every decision is recorded, with the reviewer and the reason, in an append-only log.
Because everything on Localsville is about a real person or a real place in a real neighbourhood. A wrong or dishonest profile does not just clutter a feed — it misrepresents somebody's neighbour.
Review is a light check against the Community Guidelines, not an editorial judgement about whether what you do is worthwhile.
Six: draft, in review, live, restricted, deactivated and removed.
Draft is private and yours alone. In review means a person is looking at it. Live means neighbours can see it. Deactivated means you have hidden it and can bring it back. Restricted means Localsville has limited it. Removed is final and only possible for a profile that was never live.
It means Localsville has limited it after a review, and it is not publicly visible. A restricted offering also cannot be edited.
If you think it is wrong, say so — contact support, and there is an appeals route.
Because the Terms or Community Guidelines have been updated since you last agreed, and you are about to publish something. Localsville asks at the moment it matters rather than nagging you.
It is asked when you submit a profile for review and when you reactivate one, because both put your content back in front of neighbours.
Because your draft looked ready to submit and had been sitting for a day. You get exactly one reminder, once — never a stream of them.
An incomplete draft is not reminded about at all.
Every profile goes through review the first time — nobody skips that.
After that, some long-standing accounts that Localsville has vetted have later edits and photos publish without staging. It is granted to a person, never bought, and never applies to a first submission.
