Localsville Community Guidelines
Localsville is your town. The people here are your neighbours, and the whole thing only works if this stays a place where an ordinary person feels safe saying hello.
These are the standards of Localsville, operated by Localsville LLC. They are part of the Terms of Use. Using Localsville means agreeing to them, and the app asks you to accept them before you publish anything or message anyone.
Nothing public on Localsville publishes unseen. Profiles and offerings are reviewed by a person on our team before they first appear, and again when they are edited — an approved version stays up while an edit is reviewed. Private messages are not reviewed before delivery; that is what reporting and blocking are for.
The short version
Be someone your neighbours would be glad to run into. Say what is true. If you would not do it on your own doorstep, do not do it here.
What is not allowed here
Harm to people
- Harassment, threats or intimidation — including following someone across conversations, or contacting them after they have asked you to stop.
- Hate — attacking or demeaning anyone based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or immigration status.
- Violence — threatening it, encouraging it, or offering weapons.
- Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) — zero tolerance. Sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form — including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), sexualised depictions of minors, grooming, sextortion, or trafficking of a minor — is prohibited absolutely. It is met with immediate removal and account closure. There is no warning and no second chance. Where the law requires or permits it, reports are made to the appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or law enforcement. Our designated child-safety point of contact is safety@localsville.com.
- Endangering a minor in any way, including arranging to meet one.
- Unwanted sexual content or solicitation, including sexual services.
Dishonesty
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person, a business you do not run, or Localsville.
- Fake profiles or accounts created to evade a suspension.
- Scams and fraud — including asking to be paid off-platform to avoid protections, advance-fee requests, and fake listings.
- Misrepresenting what you offer, what it costs, or whether you are licensed, insured or qualified.
- Fake or misleading content, including AI-generated images or text presented as a real person, a real place, or real work you have done.
Harm to privacy
- Doxxing — publishing someone's address, phone number, workplace or other private details.
- Sharing private messages or photos of someone without their consent.
- Collecting other people's information for anything other than the arrangement you are making — no scraping, no list-building, no marketing to people you met here.
Illegal and dangerous
- Illegal goods or services of any kind.
- Regulated items where you do not hold what the law requires.
- Dangerous deliveries — nothing hazardous, stolen, illegal, or requiring a licence the courier does not hold.
- Unsafe in-person conduct, including impairment while carrying out a delivery or service.
Noise
- Spam, bulk messaging, or repeated unsolicited contact.
- Off-topic promotion that has nothing to do with your town.
Behaviour beyond the app
Abuse that begins on Localsville does not stop counting when it moves to a text message, a doorstep or another platform. If someone uses Localsville to reach a person and then harms them, we act on the Localsville account.
Coercing or pressuring anyone — a courier, a provider, a partner, a customer — into something they have not agreed to is a violation, wherever it happens.
Reporting and blocking
Every profile, conversation and commitment has a way to report it, inside the app. Pick the reason that fits — including "Involves a minor or serious harm", which goes straight to the top of our review queue. You can also write to support@localsville.com, or for anything involving a child, to safety@localsville.com.
Tell us what happened and where. A report goes to a real person on our team for review. Reports are private — the person you report is never shown the report or who made it. If you are browsing without an account, tapping report takes you through sign-in first, because we need a way to follow up.
You can also block anyone, from their profile or your conversation. Blocking stops messages and visibility in both directions, the other person is not notified, and you can manage or undo it in Settings → Blocked people. Blocking is for your own peace; reporting is what asks us to act — do both if both are warranted.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are not an emergency service and cannot respond at that speed.
What we do about it
We look at reports and decide proportionately. Depending on what we find we may:
- decline a submission before it publishes (public content is reviewed by a person first);
- remove the content;
- pause or hide a profile so it stops appearing in discovery;
- restrict features;
- suspend the account while we review;
- close the account permanently;
- hold a payout while a safety or money question is unresolved;
- report to law enforcement where the law requires it or where someone is at risk.
Where we can, we tell you what happened and how to reach us about it. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal from inside the app, and we will tell you the outcome.
We keep records of reports and reviews even after an account closes — otherwise closing an account would be a way to erase a complaint against you.
A note on judgement
Rules cannot cover everything. We will act on behaviour that is clearly making Localsville worse for the people in it, even if it is not listed above — and we will explain ourselves when we do.
