Local Partner Terms
These terms apply if you take part in the Local Partner program. They add to the Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines and the Community Courier Terms where those apply to you.
Taking part is entirely optional. Most people use Localsville without ever becoming a Local Partner. Nothing here is a promise that you will earn anything.
1. What a Local Partner membership is
A Local Partner invites local people and places to join Localsville in a state they support, and may earn a commission on eligible paid local activity by the profiles they invited.
Membership costs $149 per state, per year.
- It is a one-time payment for a one-year term. You are charged $149 once. Your membership then runs for one year from activation.
- It does not automatically renew. There is no subscription, no recurring billing, and no stored card for renewal. We will not charge you again unless you choose to buy again.
- Renewal is manual. When you want another year, you buy another year the same way you bought the first. If you renew while your membership is still active, the new year is added to your existing expiry date, so you do not lose the time you have left.
- Each state is separate. You may hold memberships in more than one state. Each one costs $149, is bought separately, and has its own one-year term and its own expiry date.
- When a membership expires, it simply stops. Nothing is charged, and nothing is taken from you. You stop being able to share an invite link for that state, and activity in that state stops earning you commission from the expiry date onward. Your account, your profiles and any balance already earned are unaffected. We send a reminder before a membership expires.
2. Membership fees are not refundable
Once your membership is activated, the $149 fee is non-refundable.
- There is no pro-rated refund if you stop taking part, let the membership lapse, or decide the program is not for you.
- There is no general cancellation window — no 7-day, 14-day or 30-day money-back period.
- If we end or restrict your participation because you broke these terms, the Terms of Use or the Community Guidelines, that does not create a right to a refund.
The only exceptions are:
- Where a refund is required by law.
- A duplicate or erroneous charge — for example, if you were billed twice for the same membership.
- A charge that we failed to turn into a membership because of an error on our side — if we successfully take your $149 and your membership does not activate due to a Localsville failure, you get your money back.
Outside those three cases, please do not expect a refund; we are telling you this before you pay, rather than after.
Membership fees are separate from money you earn. Commission you have already earned is not affected by this section — see section 5.
3. Who can take part, and on what basis
You must have a Localsville account in good standing and be at least 18 years old.
You are independent. Becoming a Local Partner does not make you an employee, agent, partner, joint venturer, franchisee or representative of Localsville LLC, and nothing here creates that relationship. You are not buying a business, a territory, an exclusive area, or a right to any customer. You decide whether to take part at all, whom you invite, and how much time you spend.
Localsville sets the program's structure — the fee, the commission rates, the qualification rules, the hold periods and the payout schedule — and may change them going forward as described in section 9.
4. No guaranteed earnings
We do not guarantee any earnings, any customers, any volume, any income or any particular result — at any level of the program.
The $149 membership fee is payable whether or not you ever earn anything back. Many Local Partners may earn less than the membership fee. Some may earn nothing at all.
Nothing in the app, in these terms, or in any Localsville material is a promise or projection of earnings. What you earn depends on what you do, on what the people and places you invited actually do, and on what your town needs. Do not describe the program to anyone else as guaranteed income, and do not make earnings claims on our behalf.
5. How commissions work
Read this section carefully before you pay.
Your invite code. Each active state membership gives you a Community Member Number in the form LV-<STATE>-XXXXXX, plus an invite link that carries it. Someone you invite enters that code on their profile. Attribution is set once per profile, by that person, and cannot be changed afterwards — including by us, except where correcting our own error. A profile that is published without a code cannot be attributed to you later.
What you earn.
| Level | Rate |
|---|---|
| A profile you invited directly | 1.00% of eligible activity |
| One level above the direct inviter | 0.30% (City Partner override) |
| Two levels above | 0.20% (City Partner override) |
| Three levels above | 0.10% (City Partner override) |
What this means in practice:
- Commissions are paid out of Localsville's own fee. They are never added to what a buyer pays and never reduce what a provider or courier is paid.
- Commissions are generated only on goods and services — never on delivery fees, and never on anyone's membership payment. You cannot earn commission on someone buying a Local Partner membership.
- Commission is earned only where the earning profile is in the same state as your paid, active membership.
- The three override levels are only available to a City Partner (see section 6). If someone in the chain is not eligible, their level simply earns nothing — the commission does not skip past them to someone else, and nobody is paid twice for the same level.
- Commission on an order follows that order. If a payment is refunded, the commission on it is reversed.
6. City Partner
A City Partner level unlocks the three override rates above. It is earned, not bought.
The milestone: ten profiles you invited each reach $10,000 of gross activity within the same calendar month. Once you have earned City Partner, it is permanent — it is recorded once and does not expire or get taken back if a later month is quieter.
City Partner is a level within the same membership. It costs nothing extra, and it cannot be purchased, granted on request, or transferred.
7. Getting paid
Payouts run through Stripe Connect. You must complete Stripe's onboarding, which is where Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs — we do not see or store your bank details.
- Local Partner payout runs are monthly, on the 1st (UTC).
- Payouts are sent when your available balance reaches $25. Below that, the balance carries forward until it does.
- Timing is not guaranteed. Money can be held or delayed by a hold period, a refund, a support or safety review, a payout-account problem, or Stripe's and your bank's own processing.
- If money has to come back: where a refund reverses commission you were already paid, that amount becomes a negative balance — money owed back to Localsville — and is recovered automatically from your next payouts before anything is transferred to you.
You are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn. We do not withhold tax, and we may be required to report payments to tax authorities.
8. What you must not do
- Do not make earnings claims, income projections or guarantees to anyone, or describe the program as a job, salary or investment.
- Do not describe yourself as an employee, agent or official representative of Localsville, or claim authority to act or speak for us.
- Do not create fake, duplicate or misleading profiles, invite people who did not ask to be invited, or otherwise inflate invitation numbers.
- Do not manufacture activity to reach a milestone — including transactions that are not genuine, circular payments between accounts you control, or arrangements whose purpose is to reach a threshold rather than to buy or sell something real.
- Do not spam, harass, or pressure anyone into joining, and do not misrepresent what Localsville is or what a membership costs.
- Follow the Community Guidelines in every interaction, and obey the law.
9. Pausing, ending and changes
You can stop taking part at any time. Your membership will simply run out at its expiry date; as section 2 says, stopping early does not produce a refund.
We may pause, restrict, suspend or end your participation — including holding a payout or reversing a commission — where we believe it is necessary for safety, for fraud, because of a support or moderation review, or because of a legal obligation. Where we can, we will tell you why. Ending your participation for breaking these terms does not entitle you to a refund of a membership fee.
We may change the program's structure or these terms going forward. If we make a material change, we will bring it to your attention and you will be asked to agree to the new version before buying another membership term. Changes are not retroactive: a term you have already paid for runs on the terms you accepted when you paid.
Closing your account is covered by Account Deletion & Data Retention; money owed in either direction must be resolved before an account closes.
